Research & Literature Updates

The SIRVA literature has expanded considerably since the condition was first described, progressing from individual case reports to clinical series, imaging studies, pharmacovigilance analyses, population-based research, and systematic reviews.

What Can Pharmacovigilance Databases Tell Us?
Has Ultrasound Research Changed How SIRVA Is Evaluated?
Does a New Publication Automatically Change the Standard of Care?

Large vaccine-safety databases such as the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) can identify patterns of shoulder symptoms reported after vaccination across populations far larger than traditional case series.

Recent research has expanded ultrasound's potential role from simply documenting structural pathology to localizing previously unreported intratendinous sonographic pattern in chronic SIRVA.

Medical knowledge evolves continuously, but the publication of a new study does not automatically or immediately redefine the standard of care. This distinction is particularly important in evolving areas such as SIRVA.

This section follows important developments in the scientific literature and examines what new studies add—and what questions remain unanswered.
